When did you join The Property Centre?
I joined The Property Centre on 1st December 2010 as Area Lettings Manager when the Company was in the early stages of developing their Property Management business. Having worked in the industry for over 20 years and been involved in every aspect of property management, this was the perfect role for me and over the last 9 years I’ve helped to build up a team of professional, hard working and knowledgeable Lettings Co-ordinators and Property Managers who look after everything from the moment an application is made for a property, until a tenant vacates at the end of their tenancy. We keep up-to-date with all the changes in legislation and there have been hundreds since I first started in the industry over 30 years ago! Having spent 8 years based in Head Office in Gloucester, in January 2018 I took the role of Head of Property Management in our Worcester office and I’m really enjoying it.
Three words that describe me
Knowledgeable, approachable and calm.
What gets me out of bed?
Nothing makes me happier than knowing I’ve done a great job and that our Landlords and Tenants are happy with the service I’ve provided. I get a huge amount of satisfaction from helping my colleagues and giving people the benefit of my experience and knowledge.
I once got accidentally locked in a property but didn’t have a mobile phone with me to raise the alarm. I shouted out of the bedroom window at a passer-by, but he thought I might be a burglar and called the police instead, who came and let me out!
Favourite way to spend my spare time
Outside of work, my favourite things to do are walking with my little Chihauhua, spending time with my family and going to the gym where I do Body Combat and Body Pump classes. The summer gives me the opportunity to spend time in my garden and in the evenings I love sitting outside with the fire pit going. A glass of something chilled is quite nice too!
Favourite Place to Eat
My favourite place to eat is The Colesbourne Inn in Colesbourne. They do a great variety of food, have a garden to enjoy in the summer and log fires in the winter and it’s in a lovely location in The Cotwolds – perfect for dog walks!
Top Tip for Landlords
Present your property in the way you would want it if you were the tenant. Clean, tidy, neutral décor and flooring, with neat and tidy gardens are always a positive to ensure your property lets easily and is occupied for longer.
Being able to talk to animals. I would love to know what my dog is thinking and why he does certain things.
