Inspect Your Roof For Holes & Leaks

Autumn storms can take a toll on your roof.

Take a few minutes to look for missing, cracked, or slipped tiles, as well as moss build-up that can trap moisture.

If you notice any issues, get them fixed before winter weather makes repairs trickier — small fixes now can prevent big leaks later.

Clear Your Gutter

Falling leaves and debris can quickly clog up your gutters, leading to overflowing water, leaks, and even damp problems.

Use a sturdy ladder to remove leaves and twigs, and run water through the downpipes to make sure they’re clear.

If you’re not comfortable doing this yourself, hire a professional — it’s a small cost compared to fixing water damage later.

Get Your Boiler Serviced

Your boiler works hardest during the colder months, so now’s the time to ensure it’s in top shape.

Arrange a professional service with a Gas Safe registered engineer to check for leaks, pressure issues, and efficiency.

Regular servicing not only keeps your heating reliable but can also extend the life of your boiler and lower your energy bills.

Prepare the Radiators Before It Gets Cold

Before you turn the heating on full-time, test your radiators.

Switch them on and make sure they heat evenly from top to bottom. If some areas stay cold, bleed the radiators to release trapped air.

It’s also worth checking for any leaks and ensuring your thermostat is working correctly to maintain even warmth throughout your home
