If you're moving to Stroud, it helps to know where the local places of worship are before you arrive. The area is predominantly Christian, with churches in most towns and villages, from St Laurence in Stroud town centre (Grade II* listed) to the Grade I listed churches at Selsley and Painswick.

Other faiths have much less online visibility : there's a Friday prayer hall for Muslims in Stroud, a Quaker meeting in Nailsworth and a Goddess temple in the town centre.

We haven't found a synagogue, Hindu temple, gurdwara or Buddhist centre in the Stroud area. The nearest ones we found are in Cheltenham (synagogue) and Gloucester (Hindu temple). Below are the main places of worship across Stroud, Nailsworth, Stonehouse and the surrounding villages.

A highly celebrated Grade I listed church in Gloucestershire, All Saints is renowned as a masterpiece of the Arts & Crafts Movement. The church features a highly distinctive French Gothic-inspired 'saddleback' tower, dominating the ridge overlooking Stroud.

It was William Morris's first ecclesiastical commission and stands uniquely as the only church in Britain to have its entire stained-glass window scheme designed by Morris & Co.

The church is active, friendly, and open daily during daylight hours for visitors to tour the art or enjoy a quiet moment.
